Amblyopia:
Sometimes called "lazy eye", this condition is when a normal eye is unable to achieve 20/20 vision even with corrective lenses. Early detection through a complete eye examination is very important.
Vision Therapy or Patching is sometimes recommended in conjunction with glasses to correct this condition.
Astigmatism:
Headaches, squinting and eye strain are common symptoms. Astigmatism occurs when the cornea is oval shaped rather than round, which results in the eye's inability to focus light in the same plane.
Binocularity:
Known as "eye teaming", this process has both eyes working in tandem to form one image in your brain.
Hyperopia: (Farsighted)
Hyperopia is the type of vision in which seeing is clearer, or more comfortable at far rather than near. The remedy for this condition is eyeglasses or contact lenses.
Myopia: (Nearsighted)
Nearsightedness is the type of vision in which seeing is clearer, or more comfortable at near rather than far. Eyeglasses or contact lenses can correct this condition.
Presbyopia:
This condition exists is when our focusing ability decreases to the point where near vision becomes blurred or difficult. Presbyopia is the gradual loss of focusing ability that is normal for everyone to experience around age 40.
Strabismus:
A condition where one eye is turned so it does not point at the object of regard. (in other words, the 2 eyes do not work together as a team).
